Valley of Winston Salem Orient of North Carolina 1996 Since 1925
The Bodies of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, sitting in the Valley of Winston-Salem, Orient of North Carolina, acknowledge and yield allegiance to the Supreme Council of the Thirty-third and last Degree for the Southern Jurisdiction of the United States of America (Mother Council of the World) whose See is at the Grand Orient of Charleston, State of South Carolina, now sitting in Washington, D. C., of which
C. FRED KLEINKNECHT, JR., 33° is Grand Secretary General Sovereign Grand Inspector General at Large
and
H. LLOYD WILKERSON 33°i s Sovereign Grand Inspector General of the Supreme Council in North Carolina
Hugh W. Phillips, Jr.,33° KCCH SECRETARY
Charles. E. Scott, Jr., 33° ALMONER
THE ALMONER Our late Sovereign Grand Commander John H. Gowles, 33°, referred to the Almoner’s fund in these words in 1949:
When the fund is collected it is given over to the Almoner, whose duty it is to distribute it for the relief of the poor, needy and distressed, with no restrictions as to race, religion, or color. There are two restrictions, however; the receiver must not know whence it come, and the Lodge must not know to whom it goes. This I call true charity, and it is the local Scottish Rite Bodies’ contribution to the public welfare
